As a student of Mr Steckiewicz, and as a parent of two now teenage boys, I am happy to share you with my experience about Mr Steckiewicz as a teacher of Taekwon-Do.
My sons and I joined his Taekwon-Do classes in 2005 after being recommended by a friend. We had no prior knowledge of this or any other martial art. My sons were 8 and 11 years old. We soon got inspired by the systematic methods of teaching, developed by Mr Steckiewicz. They allowed students of all ages develop their physical and mental well being. We all miss Mr Steckiewicz excellent teaching skills in the technical matters of Taekwon-Do.
Although there is a very physical sport aspect, the most important development we noticed in the mental side; increased self esteem and leadership skills combined with better consideration for others.
His teaching was conducted in English, using Korean terminology. This combination offered the students the benefit of improving their English language and brought together people with different native languages. My sons got a good foundation in their English studies as a bonus.
Since Mr Steckiewicz employment abroad, our Taekwon-Do club has continued to teach by his methods, and we are happy to receive very positive feedback from the students and parents. Children have developed very positive behavior at home and school.
Today the three of us are assistant instructors in the club, hoping to maintain the good standard of teaching.
I can warmly recommend Taekwon-Do to anyone, and Mr Steckiewicz is a wonderful teacher, whom we wish we could have back in Finland one day.
